Early Years Foundation Stage

At Cross Hayes Pre School we work towards goals set out in the Early Years Foundation Stage. This is the standard set by the Department of Education for pre schools and reception classes. We teach our children:
  • to use items such as pencils, crayons, scissors and glue safely and appropriately
  • the ability to socialise and interact with their peers in group activities
  • that they should not mind being left by their parents and that they should accept being asked to do things by a variety of people (such as sitting when appropriate, listening, sharing and taking turns in play and conversation)
  • to respect other people and to be kind and caring, and to follow simple rules. 
It is a policy of Cross Hayes Pre School to welcome children with special needs and one of our staff is qualified in this area.
